  • Sizes U.S. H/8 (5 mm) and U.S. J/10 (6 mm) crochet hooks or sizes needed to obtain gauges

Instructions

Blanket

  • Worked over foundation ch multiple of 2 ch +2.
  • To join new color after foundation ch, Yoh with new color, draw through last loop on hook and pull old color tight to lock new color in place. Proceed with new color.
  • To join new color, work to last loop on hook of previous color. Yoh with new color, draw through rem loops and proceed with new color.
  • Carry color when not in use loosely across top of last row (foundation ch for 1st row) and work sts around it to enclose it, being sure to maintain gauge. Never work around more than one strand. MC will carry throughout entire Stripe Pat.
  • Ribbing is worked separately and attached in Finishing.

Stripe Pat

With A, work 1 row
With MC, work 1 row
With A, work 1 row
Rep last 2 rows 4 times more.
Join B. Break A.
With B, work 1 row
With MC, work 1 row

Rep last 2 rows 4 times more.
Join C. Break B.
With C, work 1 row
With MC, work 1 row

Join 2nd strand of MC. Break C.
With MC, work 11 rows at same time carrying 1 strand of MC loosely across top of rows and working sts around it to enclose it as established. (Carrying 1 strand of MC is necessary to maintain gauge).

Blanket

With MC and larger hook, ch 188. Join A.

Set-up row (RS): With A, 1 sc in 4th ch from hook (counts as 1 sc. Ch 1. 1 sc). *Ch 1. Skip next ch. 1 sc in next ch. Rep from * to end of ch. Turn. 187 sts – 94 sc.

Proceed in Moss Stitch Pattern as follows:
1st row: With MC, ch 2 (counts as 1 sc. Ch 1). Skip first sc. 1 sc in next ch-1 sp. *Ch 1. Skip next sc. 1 sc in next ch-1 sp. Rep from * to last sc. Turn.

This last row forms Moss Stitch Pattern. First 2 rows of Stripe Pattern are complete.
Keeping cont of Stripe Pattern, rep last row 163 times more until Stripe Pattern is complete.

Next row: With MC, as 1st row.
Fasten off.


Ribbing Strip (Make 2 Alike)

With B and smaller hook, ch 12.
1st row: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of chain. Turn. 11 sc.
2nd row: Ch 1. Working in back loops only, 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
Rep last row until Ribbing Strip (when slightly stretched) measures 50” [127 cm] (or width of Blanket).
Fasten off.


Finishing

Sew Ribbing Strips across each end of Blanket.
