Crochet Cozy Contrast Hat Pattern
Notes:
- Hat is worked side to side.
- Use two separate balls of yarn for each color. Twist the yarns on WS where they meet to avoid holes.
- To change color, work until 2 loops remain, yarn over with new color and pull through.
- Ch 2 at beginning of row does not count as a stitch.
Pattern:
- With B, ch 11. Then with A, ch 18 more. (Total: 29 chains)
- Row 1 (RS): With A, sc in 2nd ch from hook. Sc in next 5 chs. Hdc in next 12 chs. With B, hdc in last 11 chs. Turn. (28 sts)
- Row 2: With B, ch 2. Hdchb in next 11 hdc. With A, hdchb in each stitch until 5 sc remain. Sc in front loops only of last 5 sc. Turn.
- Row 3: With A, ch 1. Sc in back loops only of first 5 sc. Hdchb in next 12 sts. With B, hdchb to end. Turn.
Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until hat measures about 19½” [49.5 cm] slightly stretched, ending on a WS row.
Fasten off, leaving a long tail in Color A.

Finishing
- Thread yarn tail through short side (sc edge), gather top of hat, and secure.
- Sew back seam, switching to Color B where appropriate.
- Fold up bottom to form the cuff.
Pom-Pom (Optional):
- Wrap Color B around 4 fingers ~80 times.
- Tie tightly at center, cut loops on both sides.
- Trim to 4″ [10 cm] diameter.
- Sew to top of hat.

That’s a Wrap!
