Finished Size: Approx. 12″ [30.5 cm] long (excluding hanging loop)
Gauge: 8 sc and 9 rows = 4″ [10 cm]
You’ll Need:
- Yarn: Caron® Anniversary Cakes Special Edition™ (35.3 oz/1000 g; 1029 yd/941 m)
- Color: Gingerbread Forest (90012)
- Quantity: 1 ball = makes 6 stockings (you’ll use approx. 163 yds / 150 m per stocking)
- Hook: Size U.S. L/11 (8 mm) crochet hook

Crochet Granny’s Stocking Pattern
Notes:
- Ch 3 at beg of rnds counts as dc.
- Ch 2 at beg of rnds does not count as st.
- Join all rnds with sl st to first st unless otherwise stated.
- Stocking is worked from toe up, leaving space for Heel.
- Heel and Cuff are worked in separate pieces and added at end.
STOCKING
Toe:
Ch 2.
1st rnd: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join.
2nd rnd: Ch 1. 2 sc in each sc around. Join. 12 sc.
3rd rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in first sc. 2 sc in next sc. *1 sc in next sc. 2 sc in next sc. Rep from * 4 times more. Join. 18 sc.
4th rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each of first 8 sc. 3 sc in next sc. PM in center sc. 1 sc in each of next 8 sc. 3 sc in last sc. PM in center sc. Join. 22 sc.
5th and 6th rnds: Ch 1. 1 sc in first sc. *1 sc in each sc to next marked sc. 3 sc in marked st. Move marker to center sc. Rep from * once more. 1 sc in each sc to end of rnd. Join. 30 sc at end of 6th rnd.
Do not remove markers.
7th and 8th rnds: Ch 1. 1 sc in first sc and each sc around. Join.

Foot:
9th rnd: Sl st in each of first 3 sc. Ch 3. 2 dc in same sp as last sl st (counts as 3 dc). *Skip next 2 sc. 3 dc in next sc. Rep from * around. Join. 10 3-dc clusters.
10th rnd: Ch 3. (3 dc in sp between next two 3-dc clusters) 9 times. 2 dc in sp between last and first 3-dc clusters. Join.
11th rnd: Sl st in sp between last and next 3-dc clusters. Ch 3. (3 dc in sp between next two 3-dc clusters) 9 times. 2 dc in same sp as sl st. Join.
Rep 11th rnd until work from beg of Foot measures approx 6″ [15 cm], ending with an even number of Foot rnds.
Fasten off.
Heel Opening
Notes:
- Heel is worked in separate piece and added after Stocking is complete.
- Flatten Stocking so Toe markers are at folds on top and bottom of Foot. There are five 3-dc clusters between markers.
Foundation rnd: With RS facing, skip first two 3-dc clusters from bottom marker. Join yarn with sl st in sp between last skipped and next 3-dc clusters. Ch 11. Skip next 6 3-dc clusters. Join with sl st in sp between last skipped and next 3-dc clusters. Turn. Heel Space made. Do not fasten off.
Cont for Leg as follows:
1st rnd: Ch 3. (Skip next 2 ch. 3 dc in next ch) 3 times. Skip next 2 ch. 3 dc in same sp as beg of ch-11. Working over skipped 6 3-dc clusters, (3 dc in sp between next 2 3-dc clusters) 5 times. 2 dc in same sp as sl st. Join.
2nd rnd: Sl st in sp between last and next 3-dc clusters. Ch 3. (3 dc in sp between next 2 3-dc clusters) 9 times. 2 dc in same sp as sl st. Join.
Rep 2nd rnd until Leg from Heel Space measures approx 8″ [20 cm].
Fasten off.

Cuff
Ch 6.
1st row (RS): 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of chain. Turn. 5 sc.
2nd row: Ch 1. Working in back loops only, 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
Rep 2nd row until work from beg measures approx 15″ [38 cm], ending on WS row.
Fold work in half lengthwise, with WS tog. Using flat sl st, join first and last rows tog.
Do not fasten off.

Heel Insert
Work from ** to ** as given for Toe.
5th rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in first sc. *1 sc in each sc to next marked sc. 2 sc in marked sc. Move marker between last 2 sc. Rep from * once more. 1 sc in each sc to end of rnd. Join. 24 sc.
Fasten off, leaving long tail for sewing.
Finishing
Hanging Loop: Ch 9. Sl st in same sp as last sl st to form Hanging Loop.
1st rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each ch around. Join with sl st to first sc.
Fasten off.
Align Heel Insert markers with sl sts on either side of Heel Space. With long tail and yarn needle, sew Heel Insert in place using Whipstitch.

Fold Cuff in half and sew Hanging Loop to top edge of Cuff.
Align Cuff with top edge of Leg, with Hanging Loop at back of Stocking (above Heel).
Sew Cuff to Top of Leg using Whipstitch.
