Abbreviations

  • Approx = Approximately
  • Ch = Chain(s)
  • Dc = Double crochet
  • Dc2tog = (Yoh and draw up a loop in next stitch. Yoh and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice. Yoh and draw through 3 loops on hook.

  • Ribbing for Back, Fronts, and Sleeves is worked first.
  • Stitches for each piece are worked across the long side edge of ribbing.
  • Ch 2 at beginning of row does not count as a stitch.
  • Ch 3 at beginning of row counts as a dc.

Back

Ribbing

With smaller hook, ch 20.
1st row (RS): 1 hdc in 3rd ch from hook. 1 hdc in each ch to end. Turn. (18 hdc)
2nd row: Ch 2. *Work 1 hdc into horizontal bar below stitch in previous row on WS. Rep from * across. Turn.
Repeat last row until ribbing measures 20 (22-24-26½-29-32½)” [51 (56-61-67.5-73.5-78.5) cm], ending on RS. Do not fasten off.
Change to larger hook.

1st row (RS): Turn work sideways. Ch 2 (does not count as st). Work 50 (56-62-66-74-82) hdc evenly across ribbing. Turn.
2nd row: Ch 2. Work 1 hdc into horizontal bar below st in previous row on WS. Rep across. Turn.
3rd row: Ch 3 (counts as dc). 1 dc in each hdc across. Turn.
4th row: Ch 3. 1 dc in each dc across. Turn.

Shape armholes

Pocket Linings (make 2)

With larger hook, ch 14 (14-14-16-18-18).
1st row: 1 hdc in 3rd ch from hook. 1 hdc in each ch to end of chain. Turn. 12 (12-12-14-16-16) hdc.
2nd row: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each hdc to end of row. Turn.
Rep last row until work from beg measures 5″ [12.5 cm], ending on a WS row. Fasten off.


Right Front

Ribbing

With smaller hook, ch 11.
1st row (RS): 1 hdc in 3rd ch from hook. 1 hdc in each ch to end. Turn. (9 hdc)
2nd row: Ch 2. Work 1 hdc into horizontal bar below each st across. Turn.

Turn work sideways. Change to larger hook and proceed as follows:

Front band

With larger hook, ch 14.

1st row (WS): 1 dc in 4th ch from hook (counts as 2 dc). 1 dc in each ch to end of chain. Turn. (12 dc)

2nd row: Ch 2. 1 hdc in first dc. Dcfp around next st. 1 hdc in next st. Skip next 3 sts. Trfp around each of next 3 sts. Working in front of sts just worked, 1 trfp around each of 3 skipped sts. 1 hdc in next dc. 1 dcfp around next dc. 1 hdc in last st. Turn.

3rd row: Ch 2. 1 hdc in first hdc. 1 dcbp around next st. 1 hdc in next st. 1 dcbp around each of next 6 sts. 1 hdc in next st. 1 dcbp around next st. 1 hdc in last hdc. Turn.

Joining front band to cardigan

With WS of Band and Cardigan together, join yarn with sl st at bottom of Left Front.
Ch 1. Working through both thicknesses, work sc to join front edges with front band.
Fasten off at end of last row.

Pocket borders

With RS facing, join yarn with sl st to first dc at pocket opening.

1st row (RS): Ch 2. 1 hdc in each of next 12 (12-12-14-16-16) dc. Turn.

2nd row: Ch 2. Work 1 hdc into horizontal bar created below st in previous row on WS of work (bar is below loops normally worked on WS).
Rep from * to end of row.
Fasten off.
