Gauge

12 sc and 13 rows = 4″ [10 cm]

Instructions

The instructions are written for smaller size. If changes are necessary for larger size the instructions will be written thus ( ). When only one number is given, it applies to all sizes. For ease in working, circle all numbers pertaining to your size

Notes:

  • Separate each color link and wind into 5 separate balls.
  • Each color link will be referenced by its Pantone #.
  • Designate each yarn ball Contrast A, B, C, etc.
  • Pattern gauge must be matched to ensure successful results.
  • To change colors: Work to last 2 loops on hook of first color. Draw new color through last 2 loops and proceed with new color.

Strip

Ch 16 (19).
1st row (RS): (1 dc. Ch 1. 1 dc) in 5th ch from hook – counts as dc and V-st. Skip next 2 ch. V-st in next ch. Rep from * to last 2 ch. Skip next ch. 1 dc in last ch. Turn.
(4 [5] V-sts).

2nd row: Ch 3 (counts as dc). V-st in ch-1 sp of next V-st. Rep from * to last dc. 1 dc in last dc. Turn.
Last row forms pattern.

Notes:

One shade block in Diagram equals 1 complete color link of yarn and measures approx 4 (5)” [10 (12) cm] wide and 10 (8)” [23 (21.5) cm] long. Leave long end for sewing sides with matching colors.

Following diagram for color changes, proceed in pattern until:

  • Strips 1, 2, and 3 measure approx 48 (56)” [122 (142) cm]

  • Strips 4 and 5 measure approx 30 (36)” [76 (91.5) cm]

Sew Strips together using flat seam following direction of color placement as shown in diagram and using long ends to match colors of sections.


Bottom Edge (Solid Color with K)

Note: Ch 2 at beg of row does not count as hdc.

  • Place markers 2″ [5 cm] in from side edges as shown in schematic diagram.

  • Sew seams to markers using flat seam.

  • With color K, ch 14.

1st row (RS): 1 hdc in 3rd ch from hook. 1 hdc in each hdc to end of chain. Turn. (12 hdc)

2nd row: Ch 2. Working in horizontal bar only, created by hdc at front of work, 1 hdc in each st to end of row. Turn.

Rep last row until work from beg measures length to fit along bottom edge of garment.
Fasten off. Sew in place using flat seam.


Collar and Front Edge

With K, ch 18.

1st row (RS): 1 hdc in 3rd ch from hook. 1 hdc in each hdc to end of chain. Turn. (16 hdc)

2nd row: Ch 2. Working in horizontal bar only, created by hdc at front of work, 1 hdc in each st to end of row. Turn.

Rep last row until work measures length to fit along front edge of garment including bottom ribbing.
Sew collar using flat seam to front edge of garment.
