Materials Needed

  • Yarn: 2 balls of King Cole Beaches DK (Colorway: Beach Melba)

  • Hook: 4.5 mm

  • Notions: Scissors, yarn needle

Special Stitch

Puff Stitch:
(Yarn over, insert hook, pull up a loop) 4 times (9 loops on hook), yarn over, pull through all 9 loops, ch 1 to secure.


Pattern Instructions

Foundation Row:

Ch 5, sl st to first ch to form a ring.


Row 1:

Ch 2, puff st into ring, ch 3, puff st into ring.


Row 2:

Turn, sl st to reach the ch-3 sp.
Ch 2, (puff st, ch 3, puff st) into the ch-3 sp.


Rows 3–106:

Repeat Row 2 until the strip reaches your desired length.
(Approx. 106 rows makes a standard-length scarf.)


Edging & Assembly

Row 107 – Edging Side 1

  1. Turn and sl st to reach the ch-3 space.

  2. Ch 1, 2 sc in the ch-3 space.

  3. Ch 7, sl st between the two puff sts — repeat along the side.

  4. At the end, ch 7, 2 sc in the ring of the foundation row.

  5. Ch 7, sl st between puff sts on the opposite side, repeating to the end.

  6. Ch 7, sl st to join.

  7. Fasten off (leave tail for fringe if desired).

Joining Row – For Each Additional Strip:

  1. Begin as in Row 107.

  2. Ch 3, sl st into ch-7 space of completed strip to join.

  3. Ch 3, sl st between puffs of current strip, ch 3, sl st into corresponding ch-7 sp of joined strip—repeat across.

  4. Finish second side of strip with ch 7, sl st between puffs.

  5. Ch 7, sl st to join. Fasten off.
