Instructions
The instructions are written for Small size. If changes are necessary for larger size the instructions will be written S (L). Numbers for each size are shown in the same color throughout the pattern. When only one number is given in black, it applies to both sizes.
Note: Hat is worked side to side.
Slip Knot: Make a loop with yarn and fold it on itself to make a pretzel shape. Then pull through to make slip knot.
Yarn over hook (Yoh) and draw up a loop.
With A, chain (ch) 29 (31) leaving a 24″ [61 cm] long end for seaming later.
Single Crochet (sc):
Insert hook in 2nd chain (ch) from hook.
Yarn over hook (Yoh) and draw up a loop – 2 loops on hook.
Yarn over hook (Yoh) and draw through 2 loops on hook – 1 single crochet (sc) made
1st row: [Right Side (RS)]. 1 single crochet (sc) in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of chain. Turn. 28 (30) sc.
2nd row: Ch 1. Working in back loops only, 1 single crochet in back loop only (scbl) in each sc to end of row. Turn.
Rep 2nd row until work from beginning measures 8 (20)” [45.5 (51) cm], ending on a WS row. Fasten off.
Finishing
Using end from foundation chain, weave yarn through top of Hat and gather together securely.
Sew center back seam. Turn back cuff as shown in photo.
Pompom
Wind B around 4 fingers 100 times. Tie tightly in the middle and leave a long end for attaching to Hat.
Cut loops at both ends and trim to smooth round shape. Sew securely to top of Hat.
OR
Holding B, C, and D together, use extra large pompom maker tool.
