    • Contrast A: White Noise Tweed – 3 balls (485 yds / 440 m)
  • Size U.S. J/10 (6 mm) Susan Bates® Silvalume® crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge. Susan Bates® yarn needle.

With MC, ch 159.

1st row (RS): 1 dc in 5th ch from hook (counts as 1 dc. Ch 1. 1 dc).*Ch 1. Skip next ch. 1 dc in next ch. Rep from * to end of ch. 155 sts or 78 ch-1 sps. Turn.

2nd row: Ch 4 (counts as dc and ch 1). *1 dc in next dc. Ch 1. Rep from * across, ending with 1 dc in 3rd ch of turning ch. Turn.

Rep last row until work from beg measures 60″ [152.5 cm].


Weaving

Cut lengths of A approx 96″ [245 cm] long. Taking 2 strands tog, thread onto yarn needle and beg at lower edge, weave vertically under and over rows in ch-1 sps up to top edge, noting strands will alternate ‘under’ and ‘over’ rows to create woven appearance. Leave length approx 10″ [25.5 cm] of A before and after weaving for braided tassels


Braided Tassels

Use 12 strands together (from 6 ch-1 spaces) of yarn approx 10″ (25.5 cm) long on each side remaining after weaving.

  • Divide into 3 groups of 4 strands
  • Braid the strands together
  • Wrap yarn 6 times around cord about 2½” (6 cm) from end and secure
  • Trim ends evenly
