With A, ***ch 8.

1st row: (RS). 1 dc in 8th ch from hook (counts as ch-2, dc, ch-2). Turn.

2nd row: Ch 5 (counts as 1 dc and ch-2). Skip next 2 ch. 1 dc in next ch. Turn.

Rep last row until there are 86 rows (work from beg measures approx 54″ [137 cm]).

Turn and begin working in rounds as follows:

1st rnd: (RS). Ch 6 (counts as 1 dc and ch 3). V-st in first dc. Ch 1. Skip next 2 ch. (V-st. Ch 3. V-st) in next ch-1 sp for corner. Working down left side of Strip, skip next ch-3 sp. (Ch 1. V-st) around each dc or ch-3 sp to last dc before next corner.
